MCS

Protocols and primitives for multi-cloud storage

#Post-Quantum Cryptography #Multi-Cloud Storage #Cryptographic Protocols

In a context where data management and protection have become critical priorities for businesses and individuals, the risks associated with reliance on a single cloud provider are increasingly evident. The adoption of multi-cloud environments emerges as a promising solution to overcome the limitations of traditional cloud approaches regarding availability and confidentiality. This strategy, which involves distributing data across multiple cloud service providers, redefines current cryptographic paradigms. Instead of a model where cryptography is performed in a centralized and local manner, this approach introduces a distributed system based on a decentralized trust model.

A multi-cloud storage (MCS) scheme is a cryptographic protocol that enables data to be distributed across multiple cloud providers, with a proxy managing communication between the user and the various clouds.

In collaboration with Astran, this project focuses on two main areas:

  • the development of new MCS protocols;
  • the design of new cryptographic primitives tailored to the constraints and specificities of MCS environments.
